Landscapes, ocean scenes and gardens are just a few of the things I enjoy representing with fibers in art. I am inspired by my surroundings and
love the challenge of artistically representing what I see.
In creating an art piece, I use a variety of procedures. I begin by deciding on a design. Taking photographs helps me remember scenes I would l
ike to create. Once in the studio, I stabilize fabric which helps me control movement, and I do not need to use a hoop. I then use paints to create
the backgrounds, and to shade the piece after stitching, I do this with watercolor or acrylics techniques. to add elements to the piece I either
draw, appliqué, free motion draw with the sewing machine, hand stitch, or use quilting motifs. Last, I embellish with silk ribbons, beads, specialty
threads and fabrics to create a textural look. My passion is to find ways to use fibers and stitching to represent the beautiful world we live in.
