![]() Batiks are made by putting wax on silk or different fabrics, letting only the area of one color not waxed to accept the dye. The wax is then removed and another area with a different color is left for the next waxing. This goes on until the whole fabric is dyed different colors. It is a very long process but it is a labor of love for Julie Dubrouillet. The Artists Dilemma ……create art that inspires and excites me as well as appealing to the viewer. The solution that has worked for me and the client- is consulting with them and working from an image that has special meaning to them. I have batiked an image of an oceanfront scene with multi- level buildings taken in Europe on their honeymoon. Studio pictures of a dancer and choreographer who is from the Ivory Coast in Africa and friend. A portrait of a Mother with her 2 year old child sitting in her lap. A flower shop I visited in France and was personalized with family names. Batik is a special and unusual art form that I love. Think about what is important and meaningful to you and let’s create a special picture for you. Julie Dubrouillet
