![]() Taking the 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge for January 2015 was something Vic Mastis had tried to completed in January 2014 but didn't finish. She hadn't prepared a head of time. This time she thought ahead. Vic got her boards ready and reference materials all set so that she wouldn't spend an hour trying to decide what to paint and on what size. Painting bigger seemed like a good idea as last year when she had painted so small it was stifling. Not only was there painting but this was a national challenge so she had to try to take a decent picture of a wet canvas, post on Facebook, then post on the national website which was busy a lot of the time. All this took more time. http://lesliesaeta.blogspot.com/2015/01/looking-back-at-thirty-paintings.html After the first ten days, she started painting faster and started being more spontaneous- with this came more assured brushstrokes. Soon duties started piling up at the house. Vic couldn't spend hours on a painting everyday....so it was back to the smaller canvases but not as small as last year. Trying some new subject matter like a peacock, a scene with little buildings on a side of a mountain with the ocean in the foreground, the cypress trees in the bog were all new experiences to paint. There were 5 wipe offs, which meant that she had to paint another one that day. Sometimes Vic barely made the midnight deadline. Her husband was wondering when things were going to get done at home. Finally the challenge was completed January 30, 2015 with thirty brand new paintings. To see more 30 paintings in 30 days: http://www.vicmastisart.com/newsblog/
