Transformations: Citra Solv Art with Nancy Curry
Repurposing is trending in the art world. This flagship class takes clay coated magazine photos and transforms them into abstracts. The outcome is fresh and different every time, and as a bonus, lends itself to creating a
stash of papers ready for later use in art journals, collage, card/bookmaking, or home decor. Citra Solv makes
this “wow factor” change occur, but this class takes it further and focuses on new composition as we manipulate the papers with different tools in additive and subtractive manners. Lots and lots of papers will be transformed
as the techniques are practiced. With each new piece comes skill, confidence, and a certain boldness.
Enthusiasm is contagious in this class so it’s usually hard to get students to move along to the finishing, but one favorite will be selected and finished off with new media or embellishments as desired.
Matting and framing in the provided 5″ x 7″ frame is the last step. No two pieces will be
alike as each outcome will be determined by the random play of the inks and the different point
of view of each participant.
Note: This class uses Citra Solv, a non-toxic, orange-smelling cleanser as well as a few
alcohol-based inks. We will minimize air exposure as much as possible.
Class Fee: $55 for each session Nancy will supply all media, substrates, frames and table protection.
Supply List: Students should bring a Size 1 liner synthetic brush, thin permanent black marker, scissors and
any favorite stamps/stencils/small embellishments.
